Friday, November 9
Friday was a guided tour, basically of the Colosseum and the Vatican.
Before the bus tour started, we caught some shots of the local market around the corner from the hotel.
And Inga found it instructive to check out the local merchandise.

First stop Colosseum (talk about crowds!)

From outside, St. Peter's Basilica is not your typical cathedral style. Inside, it is immense.

The Swiss Guards seemed to be enjoying themselves.

After a brief lunch break (pizza slice outside the square),
those on the Vatican Museum tour walked about a kilometer to the museum.
In the museum we took a few snaps, but no photos allowed in the Sistine chapel. There we craned our necks
to look at Michelangelo's paintings on the ceiling, while attendants attempted to keep the crowd silent.
The stairway to the Chapel is a double helix - one way up and another down.
Can't see it in the photo, but that's what the guide said.
Our last supper in Rome was in an old wine cellar,
with operatic style music by a small group.
