On board our ship, we had dinner, buffet style in the elegant dining room. |
The multi-storey reception area is impressive. |
Our "cabin" is impressive, too - the largest we have had on any ship, river or ocean. |
There is not much shade on the deck, so it is little used.
The two young lads will be going to university in the USA. One has been accepted at Purdue, the other is still training for SAT's. |
This morning, Marg volunteered for the Chinese style medicinal
treatment. This led to a paid treatment later. Some tourist ladies danced to the music. |
Views from the ship are of bridges in the haze, a gorge, pagoda, buddha, stairway up the bank, a large industrial establishment. The unfoliaged area at the bottom shows the depth the water can take when controlled by the Three Gorges dam downstream. |
Then the ship docked so we could enjoy a 400 step climb to the
Fengdu Ghost Town. I think someone miscounted - I got to 100 by the time we got up the river bank to start the climb. We caught a shot of the ship on the way. A photo gave us an idea of where we were headed, and Ho and Hum looked at things positively and negatively. |
More cairns and statues. I'm not sure I have the plaques set with the correct photos. |
More |
And more. |
We were challenged to put the stone on the small peak. David tried without success. Then in came the ringer to show how it is done, and to ask for contributions (he got quite a few). |
Jade Emperor Hall. |
The ship is looking smaller, and we're just part way up. |
The Gate of Hell, Acheron Road, Emperor's Hall - not sure which is which. |
At the top we were invited to stand on a small round ball, to gain admittance to heaven. Women on the right foot, men on the left. Not easy to balance. |
The town across the river as we neared the bottom on the way down. |
For the Captain's Welcoming Cocktail, the crew dressed up and did some dancing. |
