Friday was a busy day, in the morning a brunch and a fashion show for the ladies, and a
talk by Lockheed Martin F35 test pilot Billie Flynn for the men. In the afternoon many of the men took a tour to Vintage Wings in Gatineau, while the ladies typically found themselves out to lunch with other ladies. Some photos from the Vintage Wings tour are shown below. |
A couple of shots of the Spitfire still being refurbished, with its massive piston engine, and of another aircraft, already complete. |
While we were there, a Corsair and a Spitfire taxied out to take off to practice for the Battle of Britain ceremony to take place Sunday morning. |
The F86 Sabre in Golden Hawk colours was a popular display. Two years ago this aircraft
led the Snowbirds in their air shows. Elizabeth provided some glamour in the cockpit (not closed). |
The Spitfire and the Corsair took off for their flypast practice. The Cessna carried half a dozen parachutists. |
A biplane, another shot of the popular Sabre, and a Yellow Peril (Harvard). If I heard correctly, all of the aircraft in the museum are in flying condition. |
The parachutists from the Cessna of the nearby parachute club floated down into the field. |
